Chapter Philanthropy

We are dedicated to serving our community, our campus, and our 3 philanthropies: Alzheimer's, Inherit The Earth, and Maine Seacoast Mission!

As members of Sigma Kappa, we are devoted to helping the environment. Our national service project, Inherit The Earth, allows us to do just that. There are many things we do as Sigma Kappa’s to help improve our earth including campus cleanups, beach cleanups and kid-friendly conservation workshops for students.

Sigma Kappa was founded in Maine and our sorority has always had strong ties there. Maine Seacoast Mission was adopted as Sigma Kappa’s first national philanthropy because of our connection to the state. The goal of the Mission is to provide support for the people living on the small islands on the coast of Maine. As Sigma Kappa’s, our donations go to funding educational programs, medial care and environmental protection for the people of these islands.

Every 66 seconds in the United States, someone is developing Alzheimer’s. Because of this, Sigma Kappa is devoted to the flight against Alzheimer’s. Sigma Kappa has been a leader is donations to the Alzheimer’s Association and has donated millions of dollars to research initiatives. Yearly, members of Sigma Kappa participate in many Alzheimer’s related events, most notably the Walk To End Alzheimer’s. Each member of a chapter, as well as Houston Sigma Kappa alumnae, raise money and walk to support research and awareness.
